The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) has announced that Egypt will receive 11,000 tons of corn from Ukraine’s Odesa region. The JCC is tasked to coordinate the movement of the Ukrainian grain in a safe maritime corridor under the Black Sea Deal between the UN, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

One of three vessels that were authorised on Monday with a total of 70,000 tons of grains, Vessel “Ash Baltic” is en route to Egypt’s Dekhela Port.

The second Bulk Carrier “Karteria” is loaded with 37,000 metric tons of wheat and is scheduled to head for Türkiye, where wheat would be milled and then loaded on a new ship to head for Yemen.

The second shipment was purchased by the World Food Program (WFP) for Yemeni people who suffer from famine in several parts.

The third ship is “Peace M”, which was “due to sail from Odesa to Constanta, Romania, with 24,485 tons of corn,” the JCC explained.

About 1.25 million metric tons of grains have now been shipped since the beginning of the UN-led initiative on August 1.
