Egyptian actor Hadi Al Gayyar died on Sunday from coronavirus (COVID-19).
He was 71.
The actor had reportedly been hospitalised at Al Haram Hospital in Giza, Egypt
The Azazeel actor’s death was announced by Ashraf Zaki, the current head of the Actor’s Syndicate in Egypt.
Al Gayyar will be buried afternoon prayers today in the family cemetery in Giza’s 6th of October city.
Al Gayyar studied acting at the High Institute of Theatrical Arts but made his breakthrough in the popular 1973 play Madraset El Moshaghbeen (School of Rowdies).
Following the success of the play, he began acting in a series of television shows, including the 1988 drama Elraya Elbeida (The White Flag) and the 1992 historical show Al Mal wal Banun (Fortune and Progeny).
Some of his most notable films include the 1971 drama Thom Tashreq Alshams (Then the Sun Rises) and the 1986 film Ihtares Esabet Alnisaa (Watch Out for the Women’s Clan).
His most recent works in television include his role in the crime drama Al Istoora (The Legend) and the 2019 drama Weld Al Ghalabah (Son of the Overwhelmed).
In October 2020, Al Gayyar was billed to join the cast o the second season of Al Ikhtiyar (The Choice), an action drama based on the true story of Ahmed Saber Al Mansi, a commander who was killed in the 2017 terrorist attack on the Egyptian city of Rafah, Sinai.
