Following Mohamed Salah new long-term contract agreement with the Reds, Liverpool fans were thrown into frenzy of excitement.
Liverpool Football Club announced that “The Egyptian King” – who nutted 156 goals in 254 appearances for the club will remain with the football club until 2025.
“If anyone needs me, I’m going to be dancing around my living room for the next couple of hours,” one fan tweeted.
Others went on to thank Mo Salah and celebrated what they called “the best possible outcome”, giving fans “what we all wanted deep down”, but acknowledged that some wanted the player to be replaced.
All through Salah’s career with Liverpool, thousands of fan have been receptive of his culture and religion, with chants comprising of lyrics “if he scores another few, then I’ll be Muslim too” and “Mo Salah running down the wing… the Egyptian King”.
Some fans maintained this energy following the news, stating “was about to say God bless, but Mashallah” – which is an Arabic word translating to “[this is] what God has willed”, used to express feelings of reverence.
Salah said he is excited to complete more wins for the club, after signing the deal.
“I feel great and excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone… We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again,” Salah told Liverpool’s website.
Last season Salah was crowned Premier League player of the year by both players and football writers after scoring 31 goals.
Liverpool won the League Cup and FA Cup, but missed out on the Premier League title by a point to Manchester City and lost the Champions League final 1-0 to Real Madrid.
Salah’s international side Egypt failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup on last March as they suffered a defeat to Senegal 1-3.
