Egypt’s Administrative Judiciary Court of the State Council dismissed, on Sunday, a lawsuit filed by two Attorneys to block the “TikTok” application in the country.
The lawsuit, No. 45923 of Judicial Year 74, calls for blocking TikTok as it disseminates and “incites immorality, pornography, bullying, violence” among the teenagers.
In July 2021, the West Alexandria prosecution ordered the detention of a TikTok woman, who calls herself the ‘Hohos Creature,’ and her friend for four days pending investigation over inciting debauchery. Some ladies in Egypt were imprisoned over charges of “inciting debauchery” over their videos on TikTok.
TikTok is a free video-focused social networking service that hosts a variety of short-form user videos, from genres like pranks, stunts, tricks, jokes, dance, and entertainment.
‘Hohos Creature,’ and her friend are accused of breaching social morals, misusing social media and the Internet, posting indecent videos with the aim of profit. The legal report filed against the defendants accuses the woman and her friend of filming videos that contain sexual expressions.
One month earlier, a Cairo Criminal Court issued its ruling to sentence both TikTok bloggers Haneen Hossam and Mawada el-Adham to prison terms in absentia over human trafficking charges. Haneen Hossam was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of L.E 200,000 after going into hiding, and Mawada el-Adham who has more than 3 million followers, received a six-year sentence.
