The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, passed away on November 4, 2024, at a tertiary health facility in Ekiti.
While the official details surrounding his death have not yet been disclosed, sources say he died from the complications of the injuries he sustained after part of the state’s High Court wall collapsed on him in July.
He took the oath of office as Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, after being appointed by former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Justice Adeyeye was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, in the Ekiti East Local Government area of Ekiti State. He was called to the bar in 1986.
He began his career as a State counsel within the Civil service of the former Ondo State before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission shortly after the state’s formation in 1996.
In 2002, he was elevated to the Ekiti State High Court judge and has served in various capacities within the election petition tribunals.
