Five militants belonging to the IS-CAP terror group were killed by elite Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers in eastern DR Congo.

The UN Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo includes the force, which has been fighting alongside militaries from Tanzania, South Africa, and Nepal.

It was gathered that the Elite Troops attacked the militants’ stronghold in Beni in an offensive onslaught operation.

For the past five years, IS-CAP, which stands for Isis Central African Republic, has terrorized inhabitants of eastern DRC, Mozambique, and Uganda.

President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to send its Quick Reaction Force (QRF) to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to help stabilize the region last year.

For nearly three decades, eastern Congo has been plagued by insecurity, which has forced millions of people to flee their homes.

Meanwhile, two drunk soldiers have allegedly shot dead 15 people in separate attacks in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This comes after six individuals were injured as soldiers attempted to carry out an arrest by throwing a grenade into a crowd.

Before being captured, an intoxicated soldier aboard a boat on Lake Tanganyika killed eight passengers, including children, according to a South Kivu official.
