The Kano state government on Thursday, imposed a dusk to dawn curfew to enable the security agents quelled widespread violence, and looting that rocked the ancient city of Kano.
Governor Abba Yusuf announced the imposition of the curfew adding that the curfew takes immediate effect.
The nationwide’s protest kicked off peacefully with thousands of citizens pouring into the streets in and around Kano metropolis before miscreants armed with weapons hijacked the civil disobedience.
While addressing newsmen at the Government House after previewing the 5 hours of mayhem in the city, the Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf said “After exhaustive security meetings with security Heads it was agreed to impose 24 hours curfew to check the uprising.”
Similarly therefore, “Based on the power vested on me by Nigeria constitution as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I hereby declared 24 hour curfew in the state to protect life, and property “
The governor called on residents to remain vigilant and continue working together to live in harmony, as the governor ordered the security agents to ensure total compliance
