The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has changed the curfew time in the state. He said, “people can now go out between 8am and 6pm in Lagos from Saturday.” He said this during a statewide broadcast on Friday.

The governor earlier announced a 24hour curfew from 4pm on Wednesday 21 October, because of the wanton destruction of properties, both Lagos state owned and those of private citizens.

Looting of shops across the state and death of individuals and policemen also occurred in several locations. All these occurred after the Lekki killings.

On Thursday, Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, mourned the lives lost in the state during the recent phase of #EndSARS protests. He apologised to Lagosians on his Twitter handle.

The governor apologised to the families of those who lost their loved ones during the period, for failure by the state to protect lives that could have been protected.

Several people were killed during the later stages of the #EndSARS protest which has lasted for over two weeks in Lagos. Conspiracy theorist believe the protests had been hijacked by thugs to cause mayhem and theft. Others argue that politicians infiltrated the protesters because they could not control their narrative.

The victims include persons hit by stray bullets, police officers killed in mob action, and peaceful protesters killed at the Lekki toll gate.

He admitted that the Lekki killings, which he described as an “unfortunate incident” served as a catalyst that fueled anger and looting by thugs across the state.

The governor added that fake news and distortion of facts had spread across social media and further caused chaos in the state.
