Enock Mwepu: Ex-Zambia and Brighton Midfielder Discharged From Hospital (News Central TV)

Enock Mwepu, ex-Brighton and Zambia midfielder, has been released from a specialist heart facility in Zambia after a four-day stay.

On Sunday, the 25-year-old fell ill during a family visit to his country and was admitted for precautionary procedures.

Doctors at Zambia’s National Heart Hospital in Lusaka say Mwepu is scheduled to return next Wednesday for an evaluation that will determine his future steps.

Enock Mwepu was diagnosed with a life-threatening cardiac disease in October, forcing him to retire from professional football. He became unwell on a flight to Mali during an international break, and subsequent tests on his return to England confirmed that he has an inherited cardiac disease.

Enock Mwepu joined Brighton in 2021 from Austrian club RB Salzburg after making 23 appearances for Zambia’s senior national team and scoring six goals. He recently joined Brighton’s development academy as coach of the Under-9s last month.
