Reports say that the team bus of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu was attacked by unidentified persons suspected to be fans of Plateau United on Sunday after the two teams played a goalless draw on Match Day 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League in Jos.
According to Channels TV, some coaches and players from the Flying Antelopes sustained injuries during the attack and social media is filled with viral videos and photos showing some of them bleeding.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku, called the attack unwarranted. He said the Club is taking measures to ensure justice is served.
He said a petition has been submitted to relevant authorities and will not relent until the issue is addressed and resolved.
The statement read, “We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served. A petition has been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we will not rest until this issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.
“Under this administration, the symbol of our great Club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honour and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.
“We also want to assure you that our team members are safe and will be arriving in Enugu today. Your unwavering support and prayers mean the world to us during these challenging times. Thank you for standing by us as we continue to uphold the spirit of Rangers.
