It was mixed fortunes for Nigeria’s remaining continental representatives as Enyimba lost heavily in Sudan while Rivers Utd won an important fixture in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Enyimba, two-time former African champions fell to Al-Merreikh of Sudan in a CAF Champions League game that saw the Nigerian side display terrible defending.

The Sudanese scored early in the game and a late goal before the break neutralised Enyimba’s impressive attack.

In Bloemfontein, Rivers Utd picked the maximum points against Celtic, to keep an eye on the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Godwin Aguda got the curtain raiser for Rivers Utd before Fortune Omoniwari doubled the lead.

Rivers, from Southern Nigeria faced a COVID-19 scare before the game as three of the squad members tested positive for the virus.
