Erica’s latest tantrums had fans and viewers alike clamouring for her immediate disqualification. After the DJ Kaywise hosted party on saturday, 5th September Erica began to throw tantrums over Kiddwaya dancing with Nengi.
The then head of house confronted her former mental attraction, Laycon, over claims that she tried to kiss him. Amid several attempts by concerned housemates to placate her, Erica let loose a stream of invective while threatening to cause Laycon bodily harm and have him killed.
Erica’s reaction has sparked online outrage especially from Laycon’s camp. Her tantrums had fans fearing the worst as she had clearly crossed the line barely a week after getting a stern warning from Biggie on her blatant violation of house rules. The housemate was one strike away from disqualification. Prince also got a brunt of Erica’s fiery mood after she called him the ‘biggest mistake’ she ever made for trying to play two sides. Prince also confirmed she wet his side of the bed to ensure they don’t share the HOH lounge.
Finally, on Sunday, September 6, 2020, Erica was disqualified from Big Brother Naija’s fifth season.
The disgraced housemate was disqualified from the reality TV show for her disturbing actions after the Saturday Night party. Erica had gone wild while accusing Laycon of lying about kissing her about a week ago. She was also accused of violating the house rules on several accounts in one night including claims she poured water on Prince’s side of the HOH lounge bed.
Big Brother in his comment stated the reasons behind her disqualification include, defacing the Head of House bed, looking through the camera crew and engaging with the team, abuse of goading of another housemate.
According to him, these actions are prohibited from the Big Brother house. He went on to read Article 18 subparagraph 1, which states that violence is prohibited in the house.
On the other hand, Neo was pronounced guilty of obstructing and preventing a fellow housemate (Vee) from moving around Biggie’s house. He was issued a strong and final warning from Big Brother.
Following Ericas disqualification, Lucy was evicted and officially became the 10th housemate to leave the Lockdown season.
Lucy had a surprising run on the show amid the dislike of fellow housemates. Interestingly, this is the first time the housemate is going up for eviction after emerging head of house in the third week of the show. She was nominated alongside Vee, Kiddwaya, Nengi and Laycon.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter following Erica’s disqualification from the house.
Also, following Erica’s disqualification, her lover in the house, Kiddwaya has expressed regret over some actions he has taken in the house. Kiddwaya, speaking to Laycon on Monday morning expressed regrets for misbehaving and disobeying the rules of the house which earned him strikes.
The Benue-born housemate said henceforth, he would start taking rules more seriously in the house. Kiddwaya said: “I just regret misbehaving and having two strikes in the first place. No one has a right to be here and Biggie has the right to penalize us.
“It is a privilege that can be taken away from you at any time. I know I’ve been breaking rules and now I’m reading the rule book to know these things that are wrong.
Seems Erica’s disqualification has served as a disciplinary check to the housemates.
The question now is, was Erica’s disqualification from the big brother house deserved or undeserved?
