President Isaias Afwerki Thursday received and held talks with the U.S. Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman at Denden Guest House, Asmara.
The meeting which lasted four hours underscores Eritrea’s enthusiasm to work in cooperation with the United States towards resolving problems in the Horn of Africa.
On his part, Ambassador Jeffrey explained the position of the United States on the prevailing circumstances in the Horn of Africa.
The meeting was attended by Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab.
Few days ago, President Afwerki was in Khartoum for talks with Sudanese officials, in a two-day visit amid tensions between the governments of Ethiopia, a close ally of the Eritrean leader, and Sudan.
He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and presidential adviser Yemane Ghebreab. The President was received on Tuesday at the Sudanese capital’s international airport by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of Sudan’s ruling sovereign council.
