Eritreans Mark Martyrs Day with Patriotic Zeal

Eritreans home and abroad have marked June 20, Eritrea’s Martyrs Day patriotic pomp and display. President Isaias Afwerki in the morning hours of Sunday, June 20 laid wreaths at the Asmara Patriots Cemetery in honour of Eritrea’s heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives for the country’s sovereignty, and independence.

The commemoration held across the country with wreaths placed at the respective cemeteries of martyrs.

At 1:00 o’clock, a minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes and heroines was conducted by nationals inside the country and abroad in their homes respecting the guidelines issued to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a related development, as part of the Martyrs Day memorial, the remains of 14 heroes who sacrificed their lives at the Dekemhare front, Southern region, during the final offensive to liberate the country have been laid to rest at the Dekemhare Patriots Cemetery.
