An unidentified estate guard has been detained by Lagos State Police after a vehicle was reportedly stolen from an estate in the Ago Okota area, Lagos.
The car’s owner, medical doctor Kehinde Fadairo, explained that he parked the vehicle within the estate on Sunday night but discovered it missing on Monday morning when he prepared for work.
Fadairo raised the alarm and informed the estate management. The Chief Security Officer summoned the overnight guard for questioning. The guard admitted to opening the estate gate for unknown individuals who drove the car out, claiming he was unsure of their identity.
Fadairo said, “I parked my car on Sunday night and woke up to find it missing. Despite security features like a steering lock, the vehicle was stolen. The guard said he opened the gate for people he didn’t recognise.”
While the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, has yet to comment, a senior officer confirmed the guard’s arrest but refrained from providing additional details.
