Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday to discuss advancing cooperation in agriculture, industry, trade, and investment.
The leaders met in Putrajaya as part of Abiy’s two-day visit to Malaysia, where both expressed optimism about expanded partnerships.
“There are plenty of opportunities from both sides,” Abiy remarked, noting that discussions had been “very fruitful” for enhancing ties across multiple sectors. Anwar thanked Abiy for endorsing Malaysia’s recent entry into the BRICS bloc as a “partner country.”
Malaysia joins BRICS alongside new members Iran, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, with other countries, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia, also interested in joining the expanding alliance.
