Ethiopian Airlines Inks Agreement to Acquire 777-8 Freighters from Boeing

Ethiopian Airlines has inked an agreement to buy five 777-8 freighters from Boeing, an aircraft company, making Ethiopian Airlines to come the alternate airline to launch the lately launched freighter, after Qatar Airways.


Boeing launched the new 777-8 freighter in January with Qatar Airways as the launch client.
Qatar Airways ordered 34 of the aircraft with options for a farther 16 in a deal that’s valued at further than$ 20bn grounded on list prices.


The order will help Ethiopian Airlines to meet expanding global air weight demand in Addis Ababa and place the public carrier for a long- term growth.


Ethiopia’s public carrier presently operates nine 777 freighters. The line also includes three 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters and a combined marketable line of further than 80 Boeing spurts including 737s, 767s, 787s and 777s.

Boeing said the 777-8 binary- machine freighter features advanced technology from the new 777X family and the performance of the 777 freighter. With cargo capacity nearly identical to the 747-400 freighter and a 30 enhancement in energy effectiveness, emigrations and operating costs, the 777-8 freighter is anticipated to enable a more sustainable and profitable business for drivers.
