Tigrayan opposition party leader Hailu Kebede, who is the foreign affairs head of Salsay Weyane Tigray party has been arrested by Ethiopian government forces.
Kebede was apprehended by the regime’s security forces yesterday in Addis Ababa. His current location remains unknown.
Meanwhile, following fresh fighting which broke out last week, the United Nations announced hours ago that efforts to deliver humanitarian aid in the embattled northern Ethiopia region of Tigray have been suspended.
Report says the renewed violence, currently concentrated in neighbouring Amhara region is worsening the crisis amid calls for de-escalation.
The UN says that aid delivery by road transport into Tigray has not been done since mid-last week.
While flights transporting aid workers have also been suspended and operational cash is no longer being delivered.
