Ethiopia’s Tigist Ketema emerged victorious in the women’s Berlin Marathon, securing a double win for her country alongside Milkesa Mengesha in the 50th edition of the race in the German capital on Sunday.
Ketema, the training partner of Tigist Assefa, who set a world record in Berlin last year, achieved her first marathon victory with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 42 seconds.
Her winning time, just under five minutes slower than Assefa’s world record, is the third-best in the Berlin Marathon’s history for female participants.
