The European Commission is set to impose a fine of approximately €500 million (N804.5 Million) on Apple for purported breaches of EU competition law, as reported by the Financial Times on Sunday.
Citing undisclosed sources familiar with the situation, the publication revealed Brussels’ intentions. The fine, expected to be announced early next month as confirmed by News Central, follows accusations from last year.
The European Commission accused Apple of distorting competition in the music streaming market through App Store rules that prohibit developers from informing users of other purchasing options.
In response to this development, as of this press time, both the European Union Commission and Apple have declined to comment on the reported fine.
