President Nana Akufo-Addo left Ghana for an official visit to Portugal on Monday for the EurAfrican Forum taking place in Lisbon.
The Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has requested his visit.
On July 19, 2023, in Lisbon, the President will take part in the EurAfrican Forum, which the Portuguese government is hosting.
In addition, he will travel to Italy on the invitation of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM) to deliver the keynote address at the 4th ECAM Annual Summit, which will take place from July 23 to 24 of that year. While there, he will meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss issues of shared interest between the two nations.
President Akufo-Addo was accompanied by Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defence; Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education; Bryan Acheampong, Minister of Agriculture; and officials from the presidency and foreign Ministry.
He is expected to return to Ghana on Monday, July 24, 2023, with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia acting in his place.
