As concerns mount over Donald Trump’s shifting stance on Ukraine, European leaders were quick to show support for Kyiv.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reassured Ukraine, stating, “You are not alone.”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who had recently visited Washington, revealed that he had spoken with both Trump and Zelensky after the incident, reaffirming the UK’s “unwavering support” for Ukraine.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni urged an urgent summit between the US, European nations, and other allies to discuss the crisis.
However, within the United States, divisions were evident. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer criticised Trump and Vance, accusing them of “doing Putin’s dirty work.”

The Kremlin, by contrast, welcomed the turmoil. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev mocked Zelensky, calling him an “insolent pig” who had been “properly humiliated” in the White House.
Some members of Trump’s Republican Party echoed Russian rhetoric, blaming Zelensky for the fallout.
Despite the diplomatic setback, Ukraine stood firmly behind its leader.
The country’s military chief pledged loyalty to Zelensky, while Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba praised his resilience.
Kyiv residents also voiced support. “He did what he had to do,” said Valentyn Burianov, 26, in the Ukrainian capital.
