France will host a European summit on Ukraine on Monday, following US President Donald Trump’s direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the ongoing war, according to Poland’s foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski.
Sikorski confirmed that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would attend the summit in Paris, emphasising the need for European unity and strength in the face of ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The office of French President Emmanuel Macron has not yet confirmed the summit’s date or attendees but stated that discussions were underway among European leaders about an informal meeting.

Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that he had spoken with Putin and initiated talks aimed at resolving the war raised concerns among European leaders, fearing that they could be excluded from any peace negotiations.
The issue dominated a security conference in Munich, which began on Friday, where meetings took place between US and Ukrainian officials, including a discussion between Vice President JD Vance and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky, following his meeting with Vance, urged Europe to unite and take decisive action.
“Europe just needs to come together and start acting in a way that no one can say no to Europe,” he stated.
Additionally, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, convened a meeting of foreign ministers to discuss the latest developments with US and Ukrainian officials.
