In a major development for Everton Football Club, Blue Heaven Holdings and The Friedkin Group have officially reached an agreement for the sale of Blue Heaven’s majority stake in the club.
The deal, which promises a new chapter for Everton, is currently pending regulatory approval from key authorities, including the Premier League and the Financial Conduct Authority.
According to Sky Sports, Farhad Moshiri’s Blue Heaven Holdings has agreed to sell its 94% stake to The Friedkin Group, subject to these regulatory approvals. Moshiri, a Monaco-based British-Iranian businessman, is the majority owner and a board member of Everton.
The Friedkin Group, owned by U.S. billionaire Dan Friedkin, also holds a majority stake in the Italian football club AS Roma.
A statement released on Monday via Everton’s website and social media confirmed the news.
“Blue Heaven Holdings and The Friedkin Group confirm that they have reached an agreement on the sale of Blue Heaven Holdings’ majority stake in Everton Football Club. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, including from the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority,” the statement read.
A spokesperson for The Friedkin Group added: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement to become custodians of this iconic football club. Our focus now is on securing the necessary approvals to finalize the transaction. We are committed to providing stability for the club and sharing our vision for its future, including the completion of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.”
Everton’s Recent Struggles
Everton has faced significant challenges in recent times, including a points deduction that has affected their fight against relegation. In the 2023/24 season, the club was initially docked 10 points for breaching financial fair play regulations. Although the penalty was later reduced to six points, it left the team in a difficult position in the league standings, increasing pressure on both players and management.
Despite these difficulties, Everton managed to avoid relegation, finishing eight points above the drop zone with 40 points from 38 matches.
Currently, in the 2024/2025 season, the team has struggled, collecting just one point from their first five matches, including a 1-1 draw with Leicester City. They remain tied with Southampton and Wolves at the bottom of the table.
To make matters worse, there are reports from August that Everton could face another points deduction due to further financial breaches.
