Former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has emphasised the role of cultural diversity in fostering peace and unity among different ethnic groups around the world. He made the remarks while receiving the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ọjájá II, who paid a courtesy visit to his residence in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State in southern Nigeria.

Dr. Jonathan described the Ooni’s royal visit as a gesture that embodies the long-standing harmony and mutual respect shared by various communities in Nigeria. He noted that such acts are a powerful reminder of the need for tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the country’s many ethnic groups.

He added that he was “deeply honoured to host the Ooni of Ife,” and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the presentation of royal gifts, which he described as “true symbols of our rich heritage and culture”.
