The focus of today’s “One Slot” is to explore Russia’s increasing influence on the African continent, which has been a deliberate effort over the past decade.
Kremlin has been actively building relationships in North Africa, expanding its presence in the Central African Republic and South Africa.
This expansion of Russian influence in Africa has garnered attention, especially given its assertive approach towards Ukraine, and has raised concerns in the Western world.
Conversely, France is attempting to restore its lost connections with its former colonies. The question remains whether Africa should view Russia’s geostrategic interests as advantageous or a cause for concern.
Joining us from South Africa today is Professor Gordon N Zide, a Pan Africanist, Retired Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Vaal University of Technology and the Current CEO and Founder of G-Gelti (Pty),Ltd Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa.
