Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, better known by her stage name Fave, has started the new year on a controversial note, after calling out Afrobeats star Davido for neglecting her backstage during a performance of their hit song “Kante”.
According to her, Davido performed a new version of “Kante” with her verse yanked off, even though they had hugged backstage before he went on stage.
She added that performing with the DMW boss would have been a good way to start the new year, but unfortunately she had been sidelined.
“Begun my new years [sic] with such a huge gag lol hugging Davido backstage as he’s about to perform, to watching him perform Kante in a new version with my verse taken off. Performing with you would have been a good way to start my year but I guess life happens.
“Happy nu [sic] year🤞💋,” she tweeted.
However, it may seem as though the “Baby Riddim” crooner incurred the wrath of the 30BG fan base, who “dragged” her mercilessly for opting to post her issues with Davido on X, instead of contacting him privately.
“I guess I should’ve just texted him how I felt instead of tweeting it. I forget how the internet can be sometimes,” the singer wrote after being heavily criticised for the post.
The well-blended collaboration between Davido and Fave on “Kante” came as a pleasant surprise to fans. The song was released in March 2023, and became an instant hit.
It is one of the songs featured on Davido’s album, “Timeless”, released on March 31, 2023.
Fave’s unique voice and style of music is one that appeals to all generations of music lovers. Her debut EP “Riddim 5“, was released in January 2022. The EP features five songs: “Obsessed,” “S.M.K,” “Kilotufe,” “Mr Man,” and the hit track “Baby Riddim“.
Other songs include “Beautifully”, “To Be Honest”, and “Fever”.
