The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has been honoured with the Leadership Newspapers’ “Quinquennial Award for Outstanding Person in Governance and Infrastructure” in recognition of his notable contributions to development and public service.
The award was conferred during the 17th Annual Leadership Conference and Awards, held at the State House Banquet Hall within the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The organisers described the accolade as a celebration of Mr Wike’s steadfast commitment to transformative governance and his significant role in advancing infrastructure for both urban and rural communities across the nation’s capital. His leadership was noted for not only accelerating development projects but also fostering community engagement and institutional reform.
The honour also acknowledged his outstanding performance during his two terms as Governor of Rivers State, where he earned the nickname “Mr. Project” for his relentless focus on infrastructural delivery and measurable results.

Mr Wike’s tenure in the FCT, the organisers added, has been marked by robust policy execution and physical transformation that have rekindled hope among residents and positioned the capital on a progressive trajectory.
“This award is a testament to his unwavering dedication to public service and the enduring impact of his work on citizens’ lives,” the organisers noted.
Chairman of Leadership Group Limited, Mrs Zainab Nda Isaiah, underscored the exclusivity of the Quinquennial Award, stressing that it is awarded only once every five years. “After this award, the next recipient would be in 2030 if we find one worthy,” she stated.
The award was received on behalf of the Minister by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi, who was accompanied by senior management staff of the FCT Administration.
