The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, revealed on Monday what he referred to as a significant achievement: the 95 percent implementation of the FCT’s statutory budget for 2024.
Wike shared this information while inspecting various ongoing infrastructure projects throughout the Territory. These included major road construction at Life Camp and Katampe and the comprehensive renovation of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.
Most of these projects are set to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in celebration of his second anniversary in office.
After visiting the sites, Wike, visibly pleased with the projects’ progress, emphasised the importance of this accomplishment, saying he can confirm that he has achieved at least 95 percent of the budget implementation.
“This is unprecedented. It has never occurred before. And if you observe the projects there, you’ll find that every project listed in the 2024 budget has been addressed.”
The Minister noted that the National Assembly’s extension of the FCT’s 2024 statutory budget until June 2025 has been crucial in enabling the FCT Administration to adequately finance and advance ongoing projects.
Wike also said that the FCT’s statutory budget for 2025 has been presented to the National Assembly and expressed hope that its prompt approval will facilitate the smooth continuation and finalisation of essential infrastructure developments within the FCT.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress seen at all inspected locations, the Minister praised the contractors for their commitment and diligence in delivering high-quality work within the designated timelines.

The projects reviewed include a four-kilometre six-lane dual carriageway linking Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, under construction by Julius Berger. Once finished, this crucial road will improve connectivity between the districts of Kado, Karmo, Gwarimpa I, Dape, Ido-Gwari, Saburi, and Dei-Dei.
Another essential project nearing completion is the access road stretching from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway (near N16) to Judges Quarters in the Katampe District. This road will also create an essential link between the N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) in Jahi District and the districts of Katampe and Maitama, enhancing accessibility in the region.
The Minister expressed pleasure at the refurbishment of the International Conference Centre, noting that the extensive renovation is progressing swiftly.
He assured that the FCT Administration has secured the necessary funds to prevent any project completion delays.
