FCTA Warns of Stricter Measures for Abuja Master Plan Violators in 2024

The Ministerial Task Force on City Sanitation and Management in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria has issued a warning of intensified measures against violators of the Abuja Master Plan in 2024. Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of Development Control at the FCT Administration, conveyed this message during interactions with journalists after the Task Force’s end-of-year celebration in Abuja.

Galadima emphasised that Abuja’s development is guided by the provisions of the Abuja Master Plan and other relevant guidelines, and it is imperative for individuals building houses or conducting businesses in Abuja to adhere to these regulations. He urged compliance with designated areas for businesses and emphasised the responsibility of residents and businesses to contribute to maintaining cleanliness in the city.

The end-of-year celebration served as an occasion for members of the Task Force to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past year. Galadima highlighted the need for periodic evaluations to assess successes, challenges, and future prospects.

Dr. Peter Olumuji, Secretary of FCTA Command and Control, revealed that the Task Force has resolved to undertake various enforcement activities in 2024 to restore the Abuja Master Plan in line with the directive of FCT Minister Mr. Nyesom Wike. Olumuji urged residents to avoid any form of illegality, emphasising that the Task Force would take action against violations.

He commended the commitment of security agencies within the Task Force and urged residents to comply with regulations to avoid enforcement actions. Mrs. Deborah Osho, Head of Operations at the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, expressed the Task Force’s determination to intensify efforts in 2024, focusing on cleaning the city and addressing issues such as illegal motor parks and unauthorised motorcycle routes.
