A man and his female passenger have been shot dead Wednesday afternoon, after unknown gunmen opened fire at them in Margate, south of Durban.
Confirming the incident, Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the shooting occurred around 12:45pm outside a hardware store off the R620 in Margate.
He said, “Medics assessed the scene and found that the adult male driver had sustained fatal injuries after being shot multiple times.
“The adult female passenger sustained a minor graze to her left leg.”
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele has said that security operatives are investigating the incident.
“A 33-year-old man was stationary in his vehicle on the national road in Margate near a taxi rank when he was shot by an unknown gunman. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and was declared dead at the scene,” Mbele said.
