The 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey will feature a Super Bowl-style half-time show, marking a historic first for football’s biggest tournament, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced on Wednesday.
Infantino revealed that Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey would be responsible for selecting the performing artists.
“I can confirm the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York/New Jersey,” Infantino wrote on Instagram, calling it “a historic moment” that would elevate the tournament’s spectacle.

The decision comes after a meeting of FIFA’s commercial and media partners in Dallas ahead of the 2026 tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
While specific details regarding the show’s format and duration remain undisclosed, the move echoes last year’s Copa America final in Miami, where Shakira delivered a half-time performance at Hard Rock Stadium.
Infantino also announced FIFA’s plans to “take over” Times Square in New York during the tournament’s final weekend, further enhancing the event’s entertainment appeal.
