FIFA has confirmed that Brazil will host matches in eight cities for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with the iconic Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro set to stage the final.
The announcement on Wednesday named Rio alongside São Paulo, Brasilia, Salvador, Recife, Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, and Belo Horizonte as the chosen host cities. All eight venues had previously been used during the 2014 men’s World Cup in Brazil.
The 2027 tournament will mark the first time the Women’s World Cup is held in South America. The final, as in 2014 when Germany triumphed over Argentina, will return to the Maracanã, one of the most recognisable stadiums in world football.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the cultural vibrancy Brazil offers, saying: “From samba to frevo, from stunning beaches to cosmopolitan cities, the world will experience the energy, colour and warmth that only Brazil can offer.”
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom also praised the rapid growth of women’s football and said hosting the tournament in Brazil would “inspire a new generation across the continent and beyond.”
Twelve cities initially vied for hosting rights, but Belem, Cuiabá, Manaus and Natal were ultimately not selected.
