FIFA will announce the venues and stadiums for the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States this Saturday, according to a statement from the governing body of football.
The expanded tournament will feature 32 clubs from around the globe and is scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025. The announcement will be made by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Central Park during the Global Citizen Festival, a music event focused on fighting poverty.
Among the 12 European teams that have qualified for the tournament are renowned clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. South America will be represented by prominent teams like Argentina’s River Plate and Boca Juniors, alongside Brazil’s Flamengo, which is part of a total of six South American qualifiers.
FIFA has yet to disclose any broadcasting partners for the tournament, which has faced pushback from the global players’ union, FIFPro. The union, in conjunction with the European Leagues body, filed a complaint with the European Commission over the tournament’s introduction into the international match calendar.
Critics argue that the new tournament adds to an already congested schedule, increasing the burden on players. The Club World Cup will coincide with the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which primarily takes place on the West Coast of the U.S.
While most Club World Cup matches are expected to be hosted on the East Coast, the Seattle Sounders may have the opportunity to host a game at their home venue.
Additionally, the USA is set to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada.
