At least 50 people have been trapped under the rubble after a multi-storey building collapsed in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
Located at 20, Gerrard Road, in Ikoyi, the building which is a construction site for luxury apartments, collapsed around 3 p.m. The owner of the building and some construction workers are among those trapped inside the building when it collapsed.
The acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident at the Ikoyi building.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, also said the agency has activated its emergency response plan.
Although three casualties have been confirmed, three were rescued alive, the total number of affected persons is yet to be established at the time of reporting.
