A violent inferno ripped through Sango Market, Ibadan, Oyo State yesterday, consuming goods worth millions of naira.
The fire which was said to have been caused by an electric fault, burnt over 50 shops. This is coming a few days after a similar incident hit Ire Akari Estate, Soka, Ibadan.
The NEMA South West Zonal Office(SWZO) and Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (Oyo SEMA) arrived the scene of the incident for a post-disaster assessment, on Monday February 5, 2024.
They were received by the P.R.O of the market Chief Daudu .M who briefed the team on the impact of the disaster that occurred on Sunday, pleading that the government should come to the aid of the affected traders.
The disaster affected property worth millions of Naira which includes over 50 shops, 1 electric pole, generator set among other properties.
Some traders whose shops were affected by the incident expressed their challenges in rebuilding their shops and businesses, emphasising that the ventures were their sole sources of livelihood.
