A female student named Murjanatu Zubairu from the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has been reported missing while on her way to school on Friday, April 26, 2024.
Her uncle, Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, a former vice chairman of Kwali Area Council in the FCT, reported her disappearance on Sunday morning.
Zubairu, a 20-year old 400-level student in the Faculty of Education’s Department of Arts Education, resides with her parents in Piwoyi.
She left home on Friday morning for school but has been unreachable since then as her phone is switched off.
According to Yewuti, Zubairu’s parents contacted him to check if she had visited his place, as they could not reach her since she left home in Piwoyi for school.
“Unfortunately, she didn’t come, and her phone is switched off,” Zubairu shared.
He mentioned that the family had informed both the university management and security agencies about Murjanatu’s disappearance.
He urged the public to inform the university or the nearest police station if they have any information about the whereabouts of the missing student.
The Student Union’s Director of Information also issued a notice urging anyone with information about Murjanatu’s whereabouts to contact the school authorities.
Murjanatu is described as 5’7 tall, with black hair and dark complexion. She was last seen at Piwoyi Lugbe, Abuja, around 5:30 pm, heading to her off-campus hostel in Gwagwalada.
