Students’ dormitory at St. Peters Boys High School in Mumias, Kakamega County, Kenya, completely burned down due to fire.

On Sunday at 6 o’clock after the students had left for dinner in the dining hall, the fire was discovered.

About 90 kids lost their personal belongings and bedding in the blaze, according to the principal of the school, Crisphinus Owino.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Before the fire spread to neighbouring structures, Kakamega County government firefighters assisted in putting it out.

According to Mr. Owino, the fire’s origin is still unknown.

“We’re not sure if it was intentionally started by a student or if there was an electrical problem. We are currently looking into the fire’s source,” he said

He asserted that the school had made plans to house the affected students in various dorms.

To accommodate 80 students, we have several extra mattresses and double-decker beds. For the remaining 10 students, we are still negotiating arrangements,” said Mr. Owino.

According to him, the incident won’t interfere with the affected students’ ability to learn.
