A fire outbreak on Wednesday in the Oke-Apomu area of Ilorin, Kwara State, destroyed seven rooms in a 20-room building after being ignited by an unattended gas cooker.

The incident, which occurred around 2 p.m., engulfed parts of a storey building at Alfa Koro Compound before firefighters arrived to contain the blaze.

Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the fire, stating that emergency responders received a distress call at 1:53 p.m. and quickly mobilized to the scene at No. 90 Koro Compound. Upon arrival, firefighters found multiple rooms consumed by flames and worked to prevent further destruction.
