A fire outbreak has been reported at a factory in Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial and Business Park. The industrial park is located in Mbale City in eastern Uganda.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established, but the fire started at about 9:00 pm on December 20, 2022. The Uganda police fire brigade arrived at the site in good time to fight the fire and prevent it from spreading to other factories and buildings in the industrial park.
There are no casualties at this moment and all workers have been evacuated. The factory employs at least 400 Ugandans.
Uganda Investment Authority personnel are on site to support to the investors as required.
