Fire Razes 40 Shops in Ibadan, Goods Worth Millions Destroyed

A fire incident at Oranyan market in Ibadan, Oyo State, destroyed goods worth millions of naira on Saturday. The herbal section of the market, situated within Ibadan North East Local Government Area, was engulfed by the fire. The cause of the inferno has not been disclosed.

Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matter, described the event as a setback for the affected traders.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, made this statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas.

He assured the affected traders of their continuous support and called on relevant government agencies, individuals, and organisations to assist the victims.

“I call on relevant authorities to expedite the ongoing investigations to determine the cause of the fire and to ensure that adequate preventive measures are put in place to avoid a recurrence.
“I urge the government to provide immediate assistance and relief to the affected traders to help them recover from their losses and rebuild their businesses.
“I appeal to well-meaning individuals and organisations to join hands in providing support to the victims, stressing that this is a time for unity and compassion.
“I reassured the victims that he would continue to advocate for their welfare and work towards securing the necessary aid and interventions.”
