Parts of the popular Tejuosho wood market in Lagos was gutted by fire on Wednesday, destroying properties and goods worth millions of naira.
The incident, which reportedly began around noon, destroyed many wooden shanties and shops along the Tejuosho canal.
It is alleged that the fire was caused by a cooking gas explosion.
There have been no reports of fatalities or injuries.
It is the latest in a string of market fire incidents that have occurred in Lagos this year.
