The Divisional Police Headquarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State was engulfed by a fire early Monday, destroying a major portion of the building.
Despite the swift response of the State Fire Service, the flames proved formidable, leaving behind a scene of destruction.
The State Commissioner of Police Hussaini Gumel informed the press that the incident happened early hours of Monday morning, and despite prompt response from the fire service team, the damages had already been done.
His words:
“At about 05:45 am, the Divisional Police headquarters was engulfed by fire, and a major part of the building was burned down completely.”
‘’This is in spite of prompt response by the State Fire Service.
The Police Commissioner added that the cause of the fire was not immediately known, but investigations were ongoing to that effect.
Gumel assured the public that the arms and ammunition kept at the headquarters were not destroyed by the inferno.
‘’The area has been cordoned off to prevent intrusion by on-lookers and miscreants, the arms and ammunition in the office are very safe.
‘’The Divisional Police Officer is currently sorting out some of the affected documents,” he added.
