Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Kano to a rousing welcome at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport around 10:15 am. She was received by the Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, members of his cabinet, and thousands of NNPP loyalists.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu will begin a one-day visit to the ancient city of Kano on Monday where she is expected to inaugurate the Faculty of Law Building named after her at the Maryam Abacha University, Kano.

While addressing reporters in Kano, Sanusi Bature, Director General of Media and Publicity to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, said adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth activities during the visit.

He said the state government, alongside the police, had drafted a compressive security network to provide the required security.

Bature said the state government and security agencies were working round the clock to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the visitors.

The government, therefore, appealed to residents to conduct themselves peacefully and come out en masse to receive the first lady.

Also, police commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, in a telephone interview, on Saturday, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN that they: “Have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security cover for our first lady before, during, and after the visit.

“We will not tolerate any act capable of bringing confusion before, during, and after the visit.”
