Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on women across the country to support each other, especially those aspiring to leadership roles, as part of a collective effort towards nation-building.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women National Summit and Dialogue in Abuja, themed “Empowering APC Women for Leadership and Nation Building,” Mrs. Tinubu emphasised the importance of women uplifting one another.

She encouraged Nigerian women to “shape the future by supporting one woman at a time,” urging them to unite and work toward increased female representation in governance. Mrs. Tinubu also asked the National Woman Leader of the APC to collaborate with other women leaders to advocate for legislation that guarantees a higher quota of seats for women in the National Assembly.

Highlighting integrity, hard work, and compassion as essential leadership qualities, Mrs. Tinubu said, A leader who cannot apologise for their wrong is not worth being a leader. When you get into office, you must look out for your fellow women all the time. When one woman succeeds, we all succeed and when one woman fails, we all fail.”

Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, commended President Tinubu’s commitment to gender equity, stating that his administration’s support has fostered a wave of new female leaders.
