A shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, has left multiple people dead and injured on Monday, police reported.
According to the press conference, three people were killed – including the attacker. Seven additional people were injured in the incident. The school, which serves approximately 390 students from kindergarten through high school, was the site of the shooting.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes stated, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation.” He added that officers located a juvenile believed to be responsible for the shooting, who was found dead inside the school building.
“Officers immediately began to administer life-saving efforts for the wounded,” Barnes said. Police have asked people to avoid the area while they continue investigating.
The police chief announced that another media briefing would be held in approximately two hours to provide more details about the shooting.
“More information will be released as it becomes available,” the police department said in an official statement.
