Fleetwood Town have parted ways with manager Charlie Adam after less than a year in charge, following a poor run of form with just one win in their last 11 league matches.
The Cod Army suffered a 2-0 defeat at Barrow on Saturday, marking their fifth loss in a sequence that also includes five draws. Additionally, the team exited the FA Cup in the first round after a loss to Reading last month.
Adam, a former Liverpool midfielder, was appointed on December 31, 2023, replacing Lee Johnson in what was his first managerial role.
However, the 39-year-old was unable to prevent the club’s relegation to League Two last season. Fleetwood currently sit 18th in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Fleetwood owner Jamie Pilley said: “I’d like to personally thank Charlie for his commitment and professionalism over the last 12 months.
“He’s been a pleasure to work with but recent results meant we felt a change was necessary. I wish him well for the future.”
Fleetwood’s next match is against Chesterfield at home on Boxing Day.
