Flood Takes Over Former President Jonathan’s Residence

Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is now internally displaced, following floods that hit his Otuoke home town in Ogbia, Bayelsa State.

Floods first ravaged his residence in 2012. On Friday October 21, the floods swamped the building and its environ yet again.

The Federal university Otuoke, the Otuoke Outreach of Federal Medical Centre have also been swamped.

Apart from those who died or drowned in the flooding, there is greater risk of more deaths from uncontrolled spread of communicable and waterborne diseases in the affected communities.

Bayelsa Governor Duoye Diri during a visit to the residence described the situation as an “attack by natural disaster.”

He lamented that a lot of the commuters have been rendered homeless due to the situation.

He further assured residents of his commitment to relieve commuters of this burden.

Diri Duoye also paid a courtesy visit to the former President’s mother, Eunice Jonathan.
