Football Fans Escape Explosion as Security Agents Deactivate Suspected IED Kaduna Bar (News Central TV)

The Police Command in Kaduna State, North West Nigeria said it had deactivated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a bar on Feb 27, same day an explosion occurred in a hotel in Kaduna.

The incident happened at a popular Kaduna bar near Nnamdi Azikiwe bypass by Abuja road junction, a favourite spot for football fans and fun seekers. 

Residents of Ungwan Romi, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State were thrown into panic and apprehension on Sunday evening and Monday morning following the discovery of an object suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) planted in the area.

Updating newsmen on the two incidents, the Command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, said in a statement on Tuesday that the IED was deactivated at Larry Breeze Bar, located at Romi area of Chikun Local Government Area.

He added that after the explosion in a hotel, police received information about another suspected IED in a bar where football enthusiasts were watching a match.

“On the strength of the information, logistics and men were immediately mobilized to cordon the entire location, while the EOD unit acted promptly in diffusing the said IED.

The earlier explosion occurred at Dorino Hotel in Kabala West area of Kaduna metropolis. The explosion caused minimal damage to the Hotel, and there was no loss of lives.

The Police Commissioner urged residents of the state to report suspicious movements or suspicious objects to the nearest security formation. He called on residents to return to their normal businesses.
