    Foreign Ministers of G7 Push for Ceasefire in Sudan

    The foreign ministers of the G7 have issued a joint statement urging an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Sudan, as the country marks two years since the devastating conflict began. The call comes amid continued violence and worsening humanitarian conditions.

    The ministers appealed to both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to commit to genuine, constructive negotiations aimed at ending the fighting that has gripped the nation since April 2023.

    The war erupted from a power struggle between Sudan’s military and the RSF, derailing hopes for a peaceful transition to civilian governance and plunging the country into prolonged instability.
